Connecting With God
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
You know that when you have a relationship with someone, you get to know them. Their mannerisms, humor, sensitivity, how they feel about things; even their voice is recognizable.
For example, you could blindfold me, take me into a room full of people, and it wouldn’t take very long for me to find my wife. You know why? Because I know her voice. I know her laugh. I can even tell by her voice when something is bothering her. And it’s only because I have spent time with her and continue to spend time communicating and connecting with her.
And it’s no different with God.
All God has ever wanted from us is to have a relationship with us. Not just on Sundays or holidays, but every day. God wants to communicate and fellowship with you.
In Matthew, Jesus said to a group of people, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.”
I love how the Bible tells us that no one can snatch us from the hand of God. That brings such comfort to my life. Especially when I have hectic, crazy things happening. Maybe you can relate.
When you spend time with God, you’ll know His voice.
Just like you know the voice of certain people in your life, you can know and hear from God in the same way. When you have questions in your life, or need direction, or just want to talk to God about your day, He’s always with you and ready to connect with you.
In the upcoming months, we’ll look at different ways we can connect with God on a daily basis. Until then, start off by reading your Bible every day, the Holy Word of God.
