Social Media Internship

 

Social Media Intern

The ideal candidate will be a creative thinker, clear communicator, enthusiastic with rock star social media skills.

The Digital Team at 104.9 the River exists to encourage connections and share Jesus in Central Ohio through radio digital marketing and social media. You must be a creative thinker who fully understands that making a positive impression via social media with listeners and clients is very valuable. You must be a great communicator, organized, enthusiastic and dependable.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Researches and stays up to date of all social media trends, platforms and developments
  • Demonstrate success in large scale social media experiences devised to increase brand awareness, brand differentiation, loyalty and ultimately advocacy.
  • Develops regular content for use in social media (including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram)
  • Creates successful strategies using Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and other social media tools.
  • Create and update spreadsheets to gauge numbers, insights and engagement
  • Work closely with the graphics team to develop graphics for social media platforms.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite a plus.

Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in a college or university
  • Preferred majors: Communications, Public Relations, and Marketing, but not required
  • Able to participate in the internship from end of May to Mid-August.
  • Minimum of 15-20 hours in-office weekly

Promotions School Credit Internship

 

 

Job Description:

The Community Impact Team at 104.9 the River exists to provide hope to people by connecting them to Jesus in Central Ohio through radio marketing, promotions, and community outreach. As a member of the Community Impact team you will act as the main “face” of 104.9 the River at station, client, and community events and remotes.  You must be an outgoing individual who fully understands that making a positive impression with listeners and clients is very valuable. You must be extremely personable, organized, and dependable.

The ideal candidate must be a go-getter, as well as a bold, clear communicator, and a star at station events, appearances and within the hallways of our office.


Responsibilities:

  • Office:
    • Event preparation- such as load/unload station vehicles, assemble giveaways, etc.
    • Maintain online listener databases
    • Shadow other station departments and assist as needed
    • Deliver listener appreciation gifts
    • Maintain overall organization of office, vehicles, and event materials
  • Events:
    • Set up event displays
    • Build relationships with event attendees
    • Engage listeners in contests
    • Engage listeners with the mission and vision of 104.9 the River
    • Take photos to post to Social Media and for Client Recaps
    • Serve as the River Dog mascot periodically

Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in a college or university
  • Preferred majors: Communications, Public Relations, and Marketing, but not required
  • Character consistent with The River’s Core Values:

  • Minimum of 4 hours in-office bi-weekly
  • Minimum attendance at 3-5 events per week

Promotions Assistant

Job Description

Overview: You will act as the main “face” of 104.9 the River. You must be an outgoing individual who fully understands that making a positive impression with listeners and clients is very valuable. You must be extremely personable, organized, and dependable.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the physical representation of the station at client and community appearances and remotes.
  • Help to brainstorm and plan creative promotional and event ideas for 104.9 the River listeners, clients, and donors.
  • Execute station, client, and community events by:
    • Preparing for the event and packing station vehicles.
    • Interacting with listeners, donors and clients in a professional and friendly way.
    • Clearly communicating the mission and vision of 104.9 the River.
    • Taking artistic photos/videos for social media and event recaps.
    • Tearing down equipment and unloading station vehicles.
  • Additional in-office tasks and projects to support all departments will be assigned as needed.
  • Assist the Intern Team Leader in navigating a team of event interns throughout the summer months.

 

You must understand that evening and weekend hours are the “NORM”.

Hours: 60% nights and weekends, 40% weekday in-office hours, though this will vary seasonally.

Digital Video Internship

 

Video Paid Internship Description: 

 

At The River, we have so many projects that we want to accomplish this year, and we need some extra help to make it happen. As the Video Intern, you’d be helping The River’s Digital Department by filming and editing creative content for The River’s website and social media platforms. You’ll gain experience in client expectations, content-creation, marketing, and storytelling.

The ideal candidate must be a go-getter, as well as a creative thinker, who is ready to gain experience in the professional world.


Responsibilities:

  • In-Office:
    • Bringing a story or concept to life (This might be our biggest hope in this internship. We would love for someone to chat through a possible creative process and then bring that to life with a compelling video.)
    • Filming donor testimonials
    • Filming any upcoming client testimonials or client videos
    • Editing all footage (either footage you have shot or footage from our video director) and adding music, captions, etc. as needed
    • Creating DJ profile/bio videos for the website
    • Possibly shooting a River promo video that encapsulates who The River is and the mission behind what we do
    • Creating new video release legal documents for The River
  • Out-Of-Office:
    • Occasional site-specific video shoots around the city for content creation
    • Occasional filming at River events to capture listener interaction
    • Collecting drone and video footage of Columbus

Requirements: 

  • Must be enrolled in a college or university
  • Must have at least 1 year of experience in film and editing, plus a demo reel of past projects
  • Must have at least 1 year of experience with Adobe Premier, Audition, and After Effects
  • Must have character consistent with The River’s Core Values:

Digital Design Internship

 

Graphic Design Paid Internship Description: 

We’re in a stage at The River where we want to have our design match how great our brand is. That’s where we would love your help. As a paid intern, you’d be helping The River’s Digital Department by designing t-shirts, posters, flyers, digital graphics, print ads, and more.

The ideal candidate must be creative, as well as timely. We’re looking for someone who is ready to gain experience in the professional world and have some fun at the same time.


Responsibilities:

  • In-Office:
    • Creating a series of t-shirt designs that match The River brand
    • Designing graphics for River promotions and anything that accompanies them (flyers, posters, etc.)
    • Designing inspirational and encouraging lock screens for phones and some other printables for listeners to download
    • Taking our top 5 blogs and creating a magazine-style PDF that listeners can read online or print out to keep
    • Working on creating a series of holiday graphics (Facebook cover photos, website sliders, and other social graphics)
  • Out-Of-Office
    • Potential for editing and designing off-site so long as in-office hours are also being met.

Requirements: 

  • Enrolled in a college or university
  • A portfolio of past work
  • At least 1 year of experience with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Copywriting / creative writing skills would be a major benefit but are not required
